Saturday 13 September 2014 - Thames Path Challenge

Simon, Gavin, Stuart, Dan, Tom and Mike all started early on Saturday 13th September. 5 of the intrepid 6 managed to finish the 100km walk that started early on Saturday 13th and continued through the night. The remaining 5 finished at 9.45am on Sunday 14th. All hobbled home after that and had a very well earned recovery day.

Thanks to all those involved and Alex especially for looking after the boys on the practice walk which was along the Blackwater navigation and besides the river ending at Salcott.

NoMadRush - Thames Path Challenge 2014

NoMadRush and friends aim to raise £2,500 to Send a Cow to the people of Africa. Simon and friends will be walking the walking 100km Thames Path Challenge 2014 for Send a Cow because they help people to help themselves.

We have selected this charity as they aim to help people in Africa not by simply giving them hand outs but by teaching them the skills that will allow them to become self sufficient, and in time through their Pass it On principle allows the recipients of aid to become donors themselves. This thereby perpetuates the donations, proving much greater assistance to the people than by giving handouts. The aim is to send a cow to create a ranch!

Essex Way Challenge

Monday 5 April 2010 - Alas it wasn't to be... Simon and Alex didn't quite complete the full 82 miles of the Essex Way. The conditions were against us, walking the first four hours in the rain through soaked footpaths then staggering along muddy fields and paths for another 21 hours Simon's legs went at 60 miles. Alex somehow managed to carry on to 75.5 miles just 5.7 miles from the Harwich Lighthouse finish line before his knees finally gave out. A fantastic effort given the walking conditions perhaps we should wait untill summer then do it all again?

Saturday 3 April 2010 - The Essex Way - The 82 mile walk along the footpath's of Essex started with an interview with Alex talking to Ian Wyatt at BBC Essex radio. Click here to listen again on the BBC web site you can forward wind to 0.21 to go straight to Alex's interview.
